Our teacher is Mrs Halstead. Year 4 is the second year group in Key Stage Two where pupils work hard to build on and develop the knowledge and understanding they acquired in Year Three.
In English we will develop our grammar knowledge and apply this understanding to our writing. We use a core text each term to structure our learning and to put the skills and knowledge we learn into context. On Fridays we present talks to the class about a given topic. This is really fun and allows us to develop our speaking and listening skills.
In Maths we focus on developing our understanding of number. We continue to use column subtraction and addition and learn how to use long division and multiplication. We also further our understanding of shape, space and measure.
Our Topics this year are:
A Study of a European City
In the summer term we go on a three day Residential to Wantage. It’s great fun because we are allowed to do activities like shelter building and crossing the swamp. The Residential helps us to learn independence and prepares us for the longer Year 6 Residential to Bude.
